Devastating news to hear the death of a young cyclist French student Philippine De Gerin-Ricard, 20, was knocked down and killed by a lorry on a Boris Bike close to Aldgate station last Saturday on a cycle superhighway by a lorry. Our thought are with her family at this desperate time.
Just looking at today’s Cycling Weekly and the technical reports bikes are certainly getting a whole lot more technical and expensive. Electronic gears are the normal in the Peleton these days and Shimano have introduced a 11 electronic Ultegra gear range. Mind boggling stuff but does it make you go faster quicker? Probably not, but it…
To gain my British Cycling level 2 track cycling qualification I’ve been coaching at Welwyn Track. Assisting the fine club members of the Welwyn Wheelers. With nearly 60 rides turning up for the Saturday morning session it is pretty full on. And in Saturday’s Telegraph magazine, it mentions the London Velodrome is going to open…
I’ve recently been approached by several cyclists requesting some coaching who are riding the above event. Whilst I’ve been able to help as these were experienced riders, if anyone else out there needs some assistance don’t leave it any later! You’ve been advised.
Off to Newport Velodrom tomorrow, Sat 1 June, to commence my level 2 British Cycling track cycling course. I’ll let you know how I get on with some photo’s.

And all this on a proper structured training program dovetailed…
It’s my intention to become a more all round coach and feel the need to get qualified in coaching track cyclists. Having been a track cyclist myself for many years starting off at the now defunct Paddington Track in West London when I was a teenager. I’ve riiden quite a few of the outside tracks…
I’ve owned on of these now for over 4 years, single speed version with the sporty handlebars. In my opinion they are the only creditable folding bike on the market and British made. Recently, I’ve read a book about this fabulous bike and amazed on the amount of development that goes into them. The latest…
Although Turbo’s are excellent, I’ve noticed that they do absolutely nothing for your biking handling skills. An article the other day in Cycling Weekly mentioned the benefit of rollers instead. Luckily for me, a club mate who was moving and clearing out his garage offered me a set which I snapped up. I thought can’t…
Interesting to see and hear Bradley Wiggins comments and appearing on BBC news this evening. About his plans to win both the Giro and Tour de France. With the former being dubbed by the BBC as the Italian job. Not sure what Chris Froome thinks about the TDF though. There will be some interesting tweets…
