London Prudential Preparation

After enjoying myself, with my wife on holiday in boiling hot Cornwall where I spent too much time sunning myself on the beach and sampling the local fish, it was time to lick myself into shape.

So yesterday, Tuesday 29 July, I went for a 5 hour ride taking in some mighty Chiltern climbs, in boiling hot weather despite getting out shortly after 8am. I suffer from hot feet and my left foot, seem to erupt about 3 miles from home. It was so uncomfortable I had to loosen the shoe right off and was glad to get home.

Curiously my hear rate hit an enormous 185bpm whilst tackling one of the Chiltern brutes, it hasn’t been that high for ages, so completely surprised about that. Having ridden over 70 odd miles without too much discomfort I feel much more confident of tackling the Prudential 100 in 2 weeks time. The bike rode well with the new compact chainset fitted.
