A tough day out in the Chilterns on Sunday 19 Jan, taking part in the mega hard Harp Hilly Hundred. A 100km of rolling hills tackling the fearsome Bison Hill by whipsawed Zoo and the savage Aston Hill which starts off steep, levels out a tad and rears up again. Lots of rolling stuff in between though, made tougher with a nagging headwind. Character building stuff. My plan was to average over 15mph and if any suitable groups passed me, I’d hang for a few miles take advantage of the shelter of wheels and say cheerio when the pace rocketed on the harder climbs. My plan worked and I was pleased to average 15.3mph so better than expected. 4 hours and 14minutes was respectable for the course. Team Quest follows this Sunday.
